Last night’s Valley Free Radio mayoral debate at the Northampton High School was well-attended, and went off without much of a hitch—NorthamptonMedia was there, live-webcasting the event on USTREAM. There are a few seconds where the audio cuts out in this recording—my fault entirely. Here’s Contrada’s MassLive reporting on the event, complete with an extensive comment thread.
The Northampton Community Television crew was awesome—in the true sense of the word. The real news story here involves NCTV’s NASA-like reverse-engineering of the Northampton High School Auditorium in order to broadcast live—They were on-site all day long. I was told by one of their staff that the audio/video configuration of the high school auditorium is poorly documented, having been built incrementally over the years. Going live required a lot of detective work and the deployment of clever technical work-arounds. NCTV? Send them Money.
