WILLIAMSBURG — Congressman John Olver lost control of his car while passing another vehicle this morning (Monday) on Rt. 9 and landed in a ditch, according to Natalie Blais, his press spokeswoman.

Olver is not hurt, and declined medical attention at the scene after being checked out by emergency medical technicians.

The accident occurred near Bacon’s Store, she said. Olver was on his way to Berkshire Community College.

“He lost control of the car on the wet road,” she said. Blais added that he was passing in a legal zone.

Olver was not ticketed or charged, she said.

An officer at the Williamsburg Police Department referred all phone calls to Olver’s office, and said her department would release the police incident report after it was approved by Police Chief Denise Wickland or a sergeant.

Olver, 75, represents the First District of Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives

“We’re just happy he’s OK,” said Blais.
